University Folding@Home, or FAH,
is a project run by the Pandegroup
of Stanford University. The goal of this project to to unlock the mysteries of how
proteins self-assemble, or "fold". Many of todays diseases, such as alzheimers,
cystic fibrosis, Mad Cow's disease, and some forms of cancer are believed to be the result
of the misfolding of proteins. So by understanding how the fold, the group is trying to
discover cures to many of mankind's diseases.
